Once you get your tree home, get your tree into water as soon as possible. Just use tap water – don’t add sugar, aspirin, corn syrup, or bleach into your tree’s water. Check your stand daily to make sure that the level of water does not go below the base of the tree – there may be water in the stand, even if the trunk is not submerged.
